Ushers & Greeters

Ushers at St Helena’s create a welcoming environment through interactions with our parishioners as they plan the offertory procession, collect parishioners’ monetary donations, assist those arriving after the start of Mass and those with mobility devices or with small children in finding an appropriate seat. Working with the lead usher and greeter at the Mass they ensure all attendees leaving the church receive a weekly bulletin.

What they do

  • Designated ushers work with the priest to signal the start of the liturgy
  • Collect  monetary contributions at the appropriate time during the Mass
  • Ensure that the offertory gifts are properly brought to the altar by parishioners whom they select before Mass begins.
  • Together with greeters they are stationed at all exits of the church to ensure each Mass attendee receives a bulletin and a greeting.

Greeters create a warm, welcoming environment through interactions with our parishioners and visitors upon entering and leaving Church.

What they do

  •  arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass and hold open doors to the Church for those entering, greet everyone with a smile or a kind word.
  •  assist those with mobility devices and small children when necessary.
  • stand at all exits of the Church to thank attendees for joining us, letting them know we hope to see them next week at the end of Mass and hand them the daily bulletin

All members of the parish who enjoy helping others are welcome.

New ushers and greeters meet with Director of these ministries prior to Masses as needed.

All are welcome to serve these ministries. For further information contact Larry Constable at lc7150@aol.com.
